ARCTIC THULE EXPEDITION ORGANIZERS
Mara Boland

Mountaineer, photographer, documentary filmmaker, and horse trainer, Ms. Boland participated on the first ascent of the World’s northernmost mountain in 1998, and she was also on the team that reached the (until now) new northernmost island in 2003.

In 1998, Ms. Boland discovered, together with Dr. Peter Skafte, the World’s northernmost archaeological site near Cape Morris Jessup.  On her many adventures, she has explored the jungles of Brazil , the Himalayan Mountains and the Tibetan Plateau.


Dr. Peter Skafte

Danish born anthropologist, mountaineer, participated on the 1996 Top of the World Expedition that located the first island north of Oodaag Island.

He participated on the first ascent of the World’s northernmost mountain in Pearyland, 1998, and was also on the team that visited the (until now) new northernmost island in 2003.

Dr. Skafte also participated in the satellite search that discovered several new northernmost islands in 2005 and 2006.

Numerous academic journals and popular magazines, including the Smithsonian and American West have published Dr. Skafte’s articles, and his research has been published in several books.
